The 1st XI travelled to Teignbridge to take on Abbotskerswell CC 1st XI under the leadership of Harry Baxendale (Harry Passanger as he “stars” for Devon CCC is ineligible).

Bax won the toss and asked Abbotskerswell to have a bat.  It was encouraging that Josh Thompson was fit enough to leaf the bowling attach with 1 for 7 off his 4 overs.  The most successful of the TKCC bowlers though was the ever-improving leg spinner, Bobby Western, with 2 for 18.  Abbotskerswell finished on 110 for 9 in their 20 overs with Brayden Notman top scoring with 33.

In reply TKCC got off to a quick fire start thanks to the trademark explosive hitting of Josh Thompson with 22 off just 13 balls.  When Josh was out it was left to Abbots old boy, Ed Smout Cooper to steer the ship home with an undefeated run a ball 38.  Despite losing 4 further wickets, TKCC reached “nelson” in just 16 overs,  The best of the Abbotskerswell bowlers being Alfie Harrison with 2 for 11.

Next up for the 1st XI is another trip to Teignbridge to take on Ipplepen CC 1st XI although there is potentially a fly in the ointment.

Finally, Evo would like to say a huge thank you to Phil Sturman for stepping into score and for Susie acting as Bax’s PA.  Evo regrets not being able to fulfil his normal roles but for once is his life he had a personal matter to attend to which had to take priority even over cricket.  Please therefore under no circumstances push Evo on this as he will reveal when he feels ready.
