congratulations to david (Syd) lawrence mbe

The club would like to acknowledge the awarding of a MBE to Syd in the Kings Birthday Honours for Services to Cricket. For those with long memories, Syd briefly turned out for Torquay CC back in 1994 before attempting a comeback after his horrific knee injury. Sadly aged just 29 he finally had to retire on which he became a successful Bodybuilder. As most of you all know though the horrible Motor Neurone Disease has now left the first black President of Gloucestershire CCC in a wheelchair and unable to speak.
