DEVON CRICKET LEAGUE 2026 - ROUND 13
1ST XI
The 1st XI headed off into the wilds of Devon to take on Bridestowe and Belstone CC 1st XI minus skipper, Harry Passenger The captain’s “armband” was taken over by Harry Baxendale.
Prior to the match there was complete confusion on TKCCs actual XI, with Chris Kelmere jnr stuck on the A38 after it was closed due to a RTC. Oscar Lovell was nominated as 12th man to try and get him eligible for the rest of the season. Kels got on the field in the nick of time so it is now over to the club’s League Rep to fight the case although Evo believes it will be a lost cause as 12th men don’t need to be registered with the league.
Bax won the toss and asked BBCC to have a bat. Alex Peggie had an early success clean bowling one of the Ewen trio for 4. It was left to Ryan Dennis (78) helped by the Burns brothers’, Kian (61) and Tallan (49) to amass the majority of the runs as BBCC reached 278 for 7 in their 50 overs with Alex Peggie being the best of the TKCC bowlers with 3 for 45.
In reply, TKCC wickets fell at regular intervals before the rain and bad light put stop to play after 36 overs with TKCC on 155 for 7. The best of the batters being a seriously under the weather, Chris Kelmere with 44 not out. Simon Gillespie who bowled his allocation of 10 overs was the best of the BBCC bowlers with 3 for 25. Mention must be made though, of Tom Fogerty’s stunning caught and bowled to remove Dan Western. Evo has recalculated the DLS and BBCC actually won by 77 runs as opposed to what is showing on Play Cricket.
It was very noticeable to Evo that BBCC members and players go ball hunting with out having to be asked, That, saying on his seasonal debut for the League 1st XI. Luke Glasson disappeared into a hedge to two.
On Thursday the 1st XI return to VX3 T20 Cup action away to Bovey Tracey (Play Cricket is showing wrong - hopefully) before hosting Ivybridge CC 1st XI in the DCL next weekend.

2ND XI
The 2nd XI played host to the league leaders, Chagford CC 1st XI.
TKCC won the toss and asked Chagford to have a bat. Not for the first time this season, Tobias Delahunty starred with ball taking 5 for 21 in his 9 overs as Chagford were 177 all out in just 40.2 over. The best of their batter’s being Stuart Lipo with 42 not out.
In reply, Tobias Delahunty continued where he left off with the ball, again not for the first time this season, plundering 83 not out off just 54 balls ably supported by Josh Hunt with a run a ball 44. The best of the Chagford bowlers was Ted Gossett with 2 for 43 as TKCC won in just 28.5 overs by 6 wickets.
Whilst the D Division West title is probably out of reach, vitally TKCC are in the second promotion spot and effectively got a game in hand over the next team, Ivybridge CC 2nd XI, who they travel to play next weekend.

3RD XI
The 3rd XI travelled out to Manaton CC to take on Barton CC 3rd XI with the embarrassing handicap of only 10 players.
Barton won the toss and asked TKCC to have a bat. Having lost both Rob Jack and Steve Waters, the stage was set for a 3rd wicket partnership of 170 between Mike Etherington (75 not out) and Mayank Koyani (100 – his maiden DCL century). The partnership being a Divisional Record. Mr Extras also contributed 49 as TKCC amassed 269 for 4 in 40 overs with no Barton bowler taking more than one wicket.
In reply many Barton batters contributed in a successful run chase led by Sean Hooton (67) and Mustafizur Rahman (49 not out) – Barton with 8 balls to spare with 4 wickets in hand. The best of the TKCC bowlers leading from the front having already done it with the bat, skipper Mike Etherinton with 2 for 37.
Next weekend the 3rd XI play host to Kenn CC 2nd XI.

4TH XI
The 4th XI played host to Lewdown CC 2nd XI with the help of three loan players from Exwick CC including Dave Pearson formerly of this parish but could still only muster 10 players! (it was a level playing field though as Lewdown only had 10 players).
TKCC won the toss and elected to bat and didn’t they have a smashing time. Matt McCann trying to prove there are two cricketers in the McCann household scored 44 and rolling back the years, Phil Bradford fell just 12 runs short of his century. There was then an undefeated 3rd wicket partnership of 160 between Rahul Chandrappa (42 not out) and loanee Meerwais Dilsouz (122 not out – his maiden DCL century) as TKCC scored a mammoth 343 for 2 in 40 overs. Mr Extras also contributing 47 runs.
In reply, Lewdown were all out with a ball to go for a creditable 227 mainly thanks to Ben Parry with 115. Charlie Warren another loanee was the best of the TKCC bowlers with 3 for 37.
Next weekend the 4th XI has the chance to put their feet up – it is their blank weekend.
