TWO WEEKS ON - SAME RESULT

Brockman Cup the replay was played despite the President of the competition last heard of being somewhere in Dorset!  Barton CC 2nd XI won the toss and elected to field.  Once again the star with the bat was Josh Thompson, fresh from his exploits with Devon U18 at the Rec just 24 hours before, but with just 57 this time of just 25 balls this time supported by Bobby Western (no hangover from his 19th birthday) with 37.  The best of the Barton bowlers was super veteran Dave Cadwallader rolling back the years 9from the Nigel Janes era) with 4 for 47 – from all accounts that was his first net of the season!  T&K finished on 147 for 7 in their 20 overs

In reply in fading light again (Evo having found a free bar, yes Kels snr, feared another abandonment), Barton with the exception of two 3rd generations in Oliver Shelton with 28 and Riley Calland with 22 not out didn’t really trouble the sole scorer which contravened regulation 9 of the competition regulations – something which the competition committee should address.   The best of the T&K bowlers was Joshua Hudson with 3 for 13 as Barton finished on 80 for 6.

Note to the skipper though – Evo handed over all the balls to the acting skipper at the start of the season!  “Captains have to take some responsibility.”

Mention must be made of Marli Roux - a natural bar tender behind the hatch already!”

Next up for the 2nd XI in the Brockman Cup is a trip to take on Bovey Tracey CC 3rd XI next Tuesday.

On the spectator front, Evo is reliably informed that Jim Partridge who played for mainly for Torquay CC 2nd XI in the 1970s / 1980s was watching.
