WESTERN IN ACTION FOR ENGLANDβS OVER 50 xi
After all the rain the weather gods were kind today when England Over 50s took on the MCC at Stourport-on-Seven. Opening the batting for the O50s was a certain Tim Western who was run out for 30. His opening partner was Kevin Parsons who spent nearly a decade on the playing staff at Somerset CCC alongside twin brother Keith both of whom as youngsters would come down with Taunton St Andrews CC when there was still Sunday cricket. Chasing only 149, the O50s won easily by 7 wickets.
CLUB OPENING NIGHT
The committee are pleased to confirm the Opening Night will be on Friday 2 May - time TBC. This will be the first of several Social Functions this season - more details to follow.
FEET UP FOR HAZZA
Sadly Hazza was unable to showcase his talents to Devon today - the rain earlier in Easter meant no play was possible in the inter-squad match at Exeter today,
it is fantasy time!
The Club is pleased to announce the launch of its own Fantasy Cricket league thanks to the hard work of Ollie Smith. It is only Β£5 to enter with the winner receiving 50% of the entry fees. For those who would like to enter the link is:

Is the chair, Steve Waters worth Β£4m? (Well I guess solicitors are wealthy people!) Is Luke Glasson worth Β£5.8m? (Think that works out as Β£500k for each ball retrieved from the hedge last season!) Is Matt McCann undervalued at Β£4.5m? Can you afford Chris Kelmere or Nathan Roux at Β£8.5m? Is Towkir Chowdhury good value at Β£7m? Is young Seb Rossin worth a punt at just Β£2.5m? Sadly Evo, isnβt giving any hints about his XI!
Good Luck Everyone
PARTNERSHIP WITH HOLLACOMBE COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE
The committee are pleased to announce the club is forming a partnership with Hollacombe Community Resource Centre. As Evo the clubβs EDI Officer said, βit isnβt what we canβt offer but what we can just like their clientβs, it isnβt what they canβt do but what they can do.β Evo went onto say, βthe Community Resource Worker was just so pleased the club had reached out to the centre.β Evo is already working on a few potential collaborations and all he asks that members get behind him and support him. More news on the plans as we have them.
hazza is a devon blues!
The club are pleased to announce 1st XI skipper, Harry Passenger, has been selected for Devon Blues when they take on Devon Yellows in an inter-squad match at Exeter CC this Sunday with play being called at 11am. Also in the Blues are ex-Torquay bowlers, Josh Nott and Kazi Szymanski - the latter starting out with Chelston CC.
a five for sonny!
The club can report a successful day with the ball (if not the bat) for Sonny Baker today at The Kia Oval. Having already caught the centurion, Dom Sibley, Sonny decided to get into the action with the ball claiming 5 for 80 including the wickets of test match batters Dan Lawrence and Jamie Smith. Sonny when cleaning up Surreyβs tail was on a hat trick but it sadly wasnβt to be. The scorecard can we found below:

Well Done Sonny
POLITE REQUEST
A polite request from the Committee. Over the coming season please respect posters promoting other sports which will be appearing in the Pavilion. The club is trying to increase its membership through a mutual exchange of membership posters with other sports clubs. The club has already secured a reciprocal arrangement with both the Tennis Club and the Yacht Club β hopefully these are the first of many. For this club to thrive it must embrace EDI hence the βmutual exchange.β
POSSIBLE LINK WITH HOLLACOMBE COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE
The club are pleased to announce it is early talks with Hollacombe Community Resource Centre about forming a mutually beneficial link. Evo with his EDI hat has already had an initial telephone conversation with one of the Community Resource Workers and has arranged for a face to face meeting next week. As Evo said, βit is a case of what people can do not what they canβt do and even if this potential link doesnβt work out, the centre is willing to provide other possible contacts.β For those members of the club who want to learn more about the work of the centre, there is a link below:

Talking of a a certain debut - second ball in red ball cricket for Hampshire and Sonny was sending world cup winner, Jonny Bairstow, back to the pavilion! Evo seems to remember, dad, Ian, always wanted to hear spectators singing, βhe is better then his dad.β Well his wish has come true!
