The 1st Xi travelled in the Quarter Final of the Aaron Printers Cup to take on Ipplepen CC 1st XI also known as “Torquay CC Old Boys” with no fewer then seven of the team having played for or got family connections. With Harry Passenger ineligible the side was led by Harry Baxendale and saw the return of Chris Kelmere. Despite not being able to play, Passenger still came and supported “his” / the lads.
TKCC won the toss and elected to bat to take advantage of better light. However, the innings got off to a disastrous start with Harry Baxendale promoting himself up the order out for 1 thanks to the Beasant / Green combo which also claimed Tobias Delahunty for 22). However, Josh Thompson scored a trademark quick fire 24 and it was like old times for a while with Chris Kelmere and Tim Western batting together – Kelmere top scoring with 28. TKCC scored 139 with all 7 wickets falling to “Old Boys” including the catches. Young Warrick Green being the best with 2 for 21.
Although Ipplepen lost wickets regularly but an undefeated 45 by Jono Colegate and a criminal amount of wides (22) saw them over the line with 3 balls to spare. and 3 wickets left standing The best of the TKCC bowlers was Tobias Delahunty with 3 for 20.
