TOMORROW – JOSH THOMPSON IN DEVON U18 ACTION AT THE REC
Fresh from his smashing time at Instow, Josh Thompson, will again be in T20 action for Devon U18s this time against Dorset U18s. Fishing nets at the ready – at least Devon will be supplying the spares!
Before that though why not come down and support T&K U13s tonight when they take on Ipplepen U13s.
Also for those who missed it. T&K Ladies made their debut at home last night against South Devon CC Ladies - T&K had surplus players so in the Spirit of Cricket leant the opposition a player. Although it ended in defeat for T&K, Hollie Newbold rolled back the years with the bat to when Torquay CC had a Ladies Team. the real winner was T&K for getting Ladies cricket back at the Rec. On the batting front, special mention must be made also of Vanessa Western who scored more runs than the entire Western family did last weekend and Merli Roux who outscored husband, Nathan, who had taken up the coloured pens for the night (maybe a new vocation), aided by Phil Sturman, to give Evo a night off (sometimes he just needs one). Thanks must also be given to Harry Baxendale (his better half, Suzie, being part of the T&K team and now fully immersed in the culture of the club) and Tobias Delahunty for umpiring and to Ady Zimunu for the pre-match warm up (although there was an unexpected one - due to the earlier wind, see below). Lady cricketers are no different though to their male counterparts - they still need refreshments, so Tim Western became Head Bartender and Matt Rossin became Head Chef for the night, supervised later by the ever dependable Katie Needs. Finally it would be totally remise not to mention Simon Rice. Without Ricey’s determination simply we wouldn’t be where we are today - with a “fledgling” Ladies Team (small acorns and all that). It was also good to see the chair, Steve Waters, despite his extremely busy schedule, come down to witness this extremely important milestone for the “fledging” club he is hopefully steering to great things over the coming years.
Sadly though there was one casualty earlier in the day – as a result of the wind the gazebo is now nursing a broken leg. As for the match itself only one ice pack was needed.
Action Photos as we have them!
devon cricket league 2025 - round 11
1ST XI
The 1st XI made their shortest away trip of the season to take on local rivals Barton CC 1st XI, on a ground which was once home to Torquay CC. (Ironically many of the 1st XI live closer to Cricketield Road then The Rec.)
Prior to play there was a Minute’s Silence for DCL President, David Gambie, who had passed away the previous weekend. This was immaculately observed and the T&K followed the three line whip over wearing full playing kit.
As per usual, Hazza lost the toss but from all accounts, Steve Lewis formerly of this parish wasn’t sure what to do but eventually asked T&K to have a bat. At this juncture, it should be noted that both umpires, Don Fathers and Colin Whitehall, agreed to use Law 43 AKA “Common Sense” when it came to drinks breaks due to the heat – something which must be applauded.
T&K decided to experiment with a new opening partner for Tim Western with Chris Kelmere sadly unable to buy a run this season. Unfortunately the experiment with Josh Thompson lasted just two bowls with Western out for a duck – leaving a ball which re-arranged his stumps. When Nathan Roux was also out for a duck – chipping a catch back to bowler Matt Lipton, alarm bells were ringing. It wouldn’t be a T&K v Barton match though without an unusual occurrence – shortly after Roux’s dismissal there was a short Sun Stop Player stoppage. However, once play recommenced it was come of the hour come of the skipper, Harry Passenger scoring an undefeated 139 (his maiden league century) including 14 * 4s and 5 * 6s. He was well supported by Chris Kelmere with 64 including 6 * 4s and 3 * 6s. T&K finished on 279 for 5 in their 50 overs – more runs and batting points then in their last two matches put together! No Barton bowler took more than one wicket.
In reply, Barton soon lost Fin Last off the bowling of debutant Beau Rider with only his 5th ball after a 350 day hiatus from competitive cricket. The momentum soon started to swing Barton’s way though thanks to their overseas Tinashe Kamunhukamwe (who guested for T&K in the week), supported by Nick Watkin formerly of this parish. However, when he was on 65, what could well be the season changing moment for T&K, he was caught on the boundary by young Noah Carswell off the bowling of Chris Kelmere, Noah was as cool as a cucumber, I think not, and the catch will go down in T&K folk law. Soon afterwards, Kelmere trapped Watkin LBW for 31. It was the beginning of the end for Barton who were all out for 180 in just 42.4 overs. The wickets were shared about by the T&K bowlers. However, whilst Ethan Kulkarni only took 1 wicket, but in one of his overs, two Barton batters managed to get run out! (Forgetting your cricket trousers for the Heffle Cuckoos match might just now be forgiven.)
After the match the 1st XI made an “electric” exit from the ground – though not usually acceptable tickets for Electric Bay might well have had something to do with it!
The 1st XI return to action next weekend at The Rec against Bovey Tracey.
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 1st XI 279 for 5 (50 overs)
H Passenger 139 not out
C Kelmere 64
Barton CC 1st XI 180 all out (42.4 overs)
T Kamunhukamwe 65
N Watkin 31
C Kelmere 2-22
H Baxendale 2-26
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 1st XI (20 pts) beat Barton CC 1st XI (5 pts) by 99 runs
2ND XI
It was so reminiscent of the old days before the all through league – the 2nd XI were playing host to Barton CC 2nd XI under the leadership of Tom Lillywhite. A note, to Mr Lillywhite though, Evo doesn’t like to hear the match was stopped at one stage as there was no spare bowls – he gets very grumpy!
Barton won the toss and asked T&K to have a bat.
T&Ks innings was very much full of cameos with 5 batters getting into the 20s but no one getting more than 36 (Abu Bakar before he was trapped LBW by the latest member of the Calland / Parker cricketing dynasty, young Riley Calland). The second highest scorer was Extras with 27. T&K scored 172 for 9 in their 45 overs. The best of the Barton bowlers were Devanshu Singh with 3 for 13 and young Riley Calland with 3 for 34.
In reply, Barton collapsed to 93 all out in just 37.1 overs. Skipper, Adam Last formerly of this parish only contributed 14 while Shaun Needham also formerly of this parish only scored 5. The best of the Barton batters was Devanshu Singh with 19. The next best apart from Extras (19) was young Harry Shelton (another 3rd generation of a cricketing dynasty) with 16 – out scoring dad Greg! Anthony Nadar led the way for the T&K bowlers with 3 for 32.
Next weekend the 2nd XI are on their travels to the “Home of the best Cricket Teas in Devon” AKA Hatherleigh CC to take on their 2nd XI.
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 2nd XI 172 for 9 (45 overs)
A Bakar 36
D Singh 3-13
R Calland 3-34
Barton CC 2nd XI 93 all out (37.1 overs)
D Singh 19
A Nadar 3-32
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 2nd XI (19 pts) beat Barton CC 2nd XI (6pts) by 79 runs
3RD XI
The 3rd XI travelled to the wilds of North Devon to take on their 3rd XI at their out ground – Westleigh CC. (One player who doesn’t wish to be named is apparently still moaning about the travel involved.)
North Devon won the elected to bat.
As Sir Geoff Boycott says, “catches win matches.” Unfortunately, the first ball of the match saw Tom Carter dropped and he finished undefeated on 113 – all one will say the culprit does so much behind the scenes for the club. North Devon were 222 all out in 37.1 overs, I bet Sheps is hopping mad about that! The best of the T&K bowlers was Mark Wilson with 3 for 55.
In reply the T&K committee did their best for the team – Steve Waters (29) and Ollie Smith (27 not out). However, it wasn’t enough and the 3rd XI was all out for just 135 in 31 overs. Wes McKellar was the best of the North Devon bowlers with 3 for 19.
Next up for the 3rd XI next weekend is home match against Paignton 4th XI.
North Devon CC 3rd XI 222 all out (37.1 overs)
T Carter 113 not out
M Wilson 3-55
Torquay CC 3rd XI 135 all our (31 overs)
S Waters 29
O Smith 27 not out
W McKellar 3-19
North Devon CC 3rd XI (20 pts) beat Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 3rd XI (8 pts) by 87 runs
4TH XI
Regrettably the 4th XI had to concede their home match against Kenn CC 2nd XI through a lack of players. It is now SITUATION CRITICAL as if the team concedes a 3rd match they will be regrettably removed from the league.
So a message to players, “think of an excuse to play cricket instead of one not to!”
Next weekend players who are willing to commit won’t have to travel far as the 4th XI are taking on Babbacombe 3rd XI at Cockington Court. Hopefully the venue will “drum” up some players.
Player of the Day
Well it can only go to Harry Passenger.
Spectator Watch
A rather quiet day as Matt Hunt didn’t follow the recently passed Lord Tebbit’s misquote of “get on your bike” so nothing really to report from Cricketfield Road.
JOSH THOMPSON HEADING DOWN UNDER
The club are pleased to announce that up and coming all-rounder, Josh Thompson, will be continuing his cricket education this winter in the north Melbourne suburb of Oak Park for Oak Park St Francis de Sales who play in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association competition and appear to be very successful.
Good Luck Josh
HOLLACOMBE Community Resource Centre SPONSORED WALK – THE PROLOGUE
When planning events in a usual British Summer you usually fear rain will scupper the plans but this time the heat scuppered the original plans. Never had the word “adaptive” seemed so appropriate,
Clients from Hollacombe CRC were originally going to walk over from their centre to the Rec and then do a few laps of the ground (a couple for logistical reasons still did brave the heat and walk over). However, the bulk came over by minibus and just did a ceremonial lap of the ground along with a select band of members of the club. Lunch was then taken before the clients (and staff) participated in some Softball Cricket. Ady and Nathan took the walkers in the nets while Evo despite organising the event was down on his hands and knees (he knows his place) with the wheelchair users. The only scare was when one member of staff top edged a soft ball into her own face - least it wasn’t a client!
Talking of the nets. Evo can see a little job for the Wednesday Afternoon Team next winter!
The success of the event can be measured by two club members telling Evo “you should be very proud of yourself” and numerus staff from Hollacombe saying “they want to comeback again.” Once Safeguarding Checks are complete, photos of the event will be released.
Evo said, “Firstly, I want it put on record my thanks for the co-operation of both the bowls and rugby club’s - it negated so many potential H&S issues. I would then like to thank the invited members who supported the event. Finally though, it is still just the early stages for forging a long term link with Hollacombe. That saying, I am already in the very early stages of forming a link with another organisation via the Tennis Club. I just simply want T&K in the Premier League for EDI and ‘failure’ isn’t a word in my vocabulary.”
DAvid Gambie RIP
The committee regret to have to inform members of the passing of Devon Cricket League President, David Gambie. David was a seam bowler for Topsham St James CC who in the twilight of his playing career represented England O70s in the Grey Ashes. Eventually David took up the “white coat” fulltime whilst off the field the number of positions he held it is a case of where to start.
The club’s thoughts are with David’s family at this sad time.

JOSH THOMPSON HAVING A SMASHING TIME FOR DEVON U18S
News is just reaching the club thanks to the eagle eyed Harry Baxendale, that Josh Thompson had a smashing time up at Instow today playing for Devon U18s. Josh hit an undefeated 130 in just 52 balls in a 10 wicket win against Wiltshire in the second of two T20 matches. This included 14*4s and 9*6s – no news though on whether any unsuspecting sunbathers were hurt in this ruthless attack on the Wiltshire bowlers!
Well Batted Josh
newsnight special
4TH XI
Back in action next weekend home to Kenn CC 2nd XI.
Player of the Day
A very close call but for giving the 1st XI some hope it has to go to Harry Baxendale.
Spectator Watch
Well apart from the visitor from Middlesex CCC. It has to go to the new camp in town – Camp Hunt who took over the gazebo.
NOT SO GOOD MID EVENING NEWS
3RD XI
The 3rd XI played host to Exwick CC 2nd XI a club which has been recognised for their EDI credentials, some which Evo hopes T&K will soon be getting recognition for.
Exwick won the toss and asked T&K to have a bat.
There were many contributions as T&K scored 170 all out in 35.2 overs. The highest being Craig Davies with 34. Mention though must be made of young Fin Pinder a recent arrival from Queens Park who was 22 not out. Daniel Groves was the best of the Exwick bowlers with 3 for 38.
Exwick knocked the runs off for the loss of just 2 wickets in just 35 overs thanks to Raghav Mishra with 72 not out. Mishra was supported by Simon Burrell with 40 and Muhammad Khan with an undefeated 32.
For next weekend in the words of Bumble “start the car” (now) as the 3rd XI are on the road to take on North Devon CC 3rd XI at Westleigh CC.
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 3rd XI 170 all out (35.2 overs)

three lions come calling for western again
The club are pleased to inform members that Tim Western returns to England 050s action on Tuesday against Wales O50s at Marlborough College.
Good Luck Tim
some good early evening news
2ND XI
The 2nd XI went out to Dartmoor to play in the vicinity of Ade Edmundson / Jennifer Saunders residence – taking on Chagford CC 1st XI. Continuing on the comedy theme but a case of it would be funny if it wasn’t so sad, but T&K travelled without an umpire yet again.
Chagford won the toss and elected to field.
For T&K it was very much a case of no one really got going with Extras though only being 27 was the highest scorer. T&K were all out for just 130 in 37.1 overs. The best of the Chagford bowlers being Tom Moesel with 3 for 20 and Jack Brijnath with 3 for 30.
Had it not been for skipper Stuart Lipo (23) and Extras (16) it would have been a complete disaster for Chagford – all out for just 57 in only 25.2 overs. The stars with ball for T&K were Tobias Delahunty with 5 for 8 and Towkir Chowdhury with 4 for 12.
Next up for the 2nd XI nest weekend is hosting Barton CC 2nd XI.
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 2nd XI 130 all out (37.1 0vers)
Extras 27
T Moesel 3-20
J Brijnath 3-30

THE BIG MATCH RETURNS SOON
After many years Ladies Cricket returns with a match on Monday 14 July against South Devon CC Ladies. So please come down to The Rec and support Hollie, Katie, Maria, Rosie, Sophia, Vanessa and the rest of the women and girls.
DISASTER BY TEATIME!
1ST XI
The 1st XI played host to Bridestowe and Belstone CC 1st XI in the winner takes it all relegation battle – there could be “no time for losers.”
As usual Hazza lost the toss and T&K were asked to have a bat. Note to skipper – please inform Evo of team changes!
For the second week running Kev Sullivan’s quote “what has just happened” soon sprung to mind with T&K soon 44 for 4 with all the main batters back in the pavilion with the exception of the “Two Harrys” but it was no laughing matter when they were both out with the score just 60 for 6. T&K were finally all out for just 83 in only 34.1 overs. Extras top scored with 22 as for the batters, Nathan Roux was best with just 16. The damage having been done for B&B by Paul Penberthy with 4 for 20 and Tallan Burns with 3 for 18. A special note of thanks to Tallan - not many opposition captains return the match ball to Evo.
So for a second week running T&K were out in the field before tea. However at 34 for 4, in reply thanks to the Harry Baxendale show with 4 for 28 was the Great Escape on? Sadly it wasn’t to be with a skipper’s knock by Kian Burns – 28 not out seeing B&B over the line with 4 wickets in hand. It has to be noted the umpires used Law 43 regarding the taking of Tea.
Had the match gone on much longer. Evo could have put his feet up as Don Shelley the Middlesex CCC 1st XI scorer had arrived on the ground for his annual visit. (Evo worked with Don at the Home of Cricket back in 2013.)
It is rumoured that Hazza is calling a COBRA meeting before the Speed Quizzing tonight!
Before the 1st XI make the shortest of trips to take on Barton CC 1st XI next weekend the batters have two opportunities for some batting out in the middle – Monday against Four Oak Saints in a T20 and Wednesday against Heffle Cuckoos in a 40 over match.
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 1st XI 83 all out (34.1 overs)
Extras 22
N Roux 16
P Penberthy 4-20
T Burns 3-18
Bridestowe and Belstone CC 1st XI 86 for 6 (26.4 overs)
K Burns 28 not out
H Baxendale 4-28
Bridestowe and Belstone CC 1st XI (18 pts) beat Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 1st XI (4 pts) by 4 wickets

Well Done Hazza
DEVON CRICKET LEAGUE 2025 - ROUND 9
1ST XI
The 1st XI travelled to the “Home of the Best Cricket Teas in Devon” AKA Hatherleigh CC to take on their 1st XI. Prior to the match there was a minutes silence for former Torquay CC player, David “Syd” Lawrence who last Sunday succumb to MND. The club would like to put formally on record their thanks to Hatherleigh CC for being so compliant and in particular Sue Tidball their Vice Chair and Evo’s colleague in the box for facilitating it. Note to the players though it would have been etiquette for all T&K players to have been in full kit for it.
Hatherleigh won the toss, a rarer occurrence then even Hazza winning it, and asked T&K to have a bat.
Just 123 minutes later in the words of Kevin Sullivan “What Just Happened” with T&K all out for 90 in just 33,2 overs. Well T&K had run into Emmerson Wood (who moved to the area last winter) who took 6 for 10. The decision to change the batting order unfortunately failed spectacularly as a result with the exception of young Rio Koyikkara who finished undefeated on 36 off 97 balls, which was virtually 50% of all the balls faced by T&K.
With the fabled Hatherleigh tea on hold, the home side went out to bat, After just one ball it was a case of are T&K going to do something special with Harry Passenger clean bowling Ryan Quick. The second over unfortunately reminded Evo of Sargent Wilson’s quote, “is it wise sir.” After that with the Two Harry’s in tandem, there was always a chance of T&Ks own Miracle of Headingley (1981 version) but sadly it wasn’t to be but Hatherleigh did lose 5 wickets in the case with Passenger taking 3 for 42 and Baxendale 2 for 31. Emmerson Wood capped a fine day with a quick fire undefeated 20 off just 11 balls.
After the match with Harry Passenger clearly suffering from shell shock as a result of the performance. It was left to Luke Glasson to respond on behalf of T&K to Hatherleigh captain’s traditional short speech at tea,
With the alarm bells now clearly ringing, next weekend’s home match against Bridestowe and Belstone CC 1st XI – a “Winner Takes It All” relegation battle with the loser being in “Dire Straits.”
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 1st XI 90 all out (33.2 overs)
R Koyikkara 36 not out
E Wood 6-10
Hatherleigh CC 1st XI 93 for 5 (17.3 overs)
S Ghosh 26
H Passenger 3-42
Hatherleigh CC 1st XI (18 pts) beat Torquay and Kingskerswell CC (3 pts) by 5 Wickets
2ND XI
The 2nd XI played host to Plymouth CC 2nd XI who were being captained by James Toms formerly of this parish on a track that was slightly greener then it should have been. No 2nd XI players took responsibility to cover the track after the Brockman Cup Final!
Just a week after the McCann’s double act in the 4th XI. This week it was the turn of the Ebrahim's with dad Faiz and son Ethan. Is “Ethan” the most popular first name amongst T&K players? Note to skipper though – retrospective DCL registrations are a pain in the arse!
T&K won the toss and elected to bat. Most batters got started but no one went onto make a big score with Faiz Ebrahim and Ryan Hanauer both scoring 29. However, they were outscored by extras with 35 and wides alone with 28 nearly outscored them. T&K were all out for 186 in just 38.2 overs, the, oh so regular cardinal sin of not batting the overs out. It was no fault of young Ethan Ebrahim who was 3 not out at the end having batted for 19 minutes and faced 13 balls. The best of the Plymouth bowlers was Stephen Skew with 3 for 41.
In reply no Plymouth batter really got going and by the time virtually the entire 1st XI came back to watch, Plymouth were already 5 wickets down, This however enabled them to watch James Toms (23) and his son George (17) bat together. There was a couple of lusty blows by Azizurahman Rahmanzai, so with the boot on the other foot for a change Evo sadly had an “unsuccessful” ball search but least he tried – Neil Stanlake or his partner in crime Nathan Roux might have better luck when they clear the bank / stream next. The star with the ball for T&K was Towkir Chowdhury with 4 for 10. Whilst young Ethan Ebrahim was wicketless on debut, Fahid Ali was run out while he was bowling by Tobias Delahunty to secure the 10th Plymouth wicket - a vital win for the 2nd XI.
Special mention must be made of our very own Phil Sturman who “guested” as scorer for Plymouth.
Next up for the 2nd XI is a trip on the Moors next weekend to take on Chagford CC 1st XI on a ground which once hosted a competitive Devon CCC 1 day match.
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 2nd XI 186 all out (38.2 overs)
Extras 35
F Ebrahim 29
R Hanauer 29
S Skew 3-41
Plymouth CC 2nd XI 128 all out (42.2 overs)
Extras 30
J Toms 23
T Chowdhury 4-10
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 2nd XI (19 pts) beat Plymouth CC 2nd XI (8 pts) by 58 runs
3RD XI
The 3rd XI set off on the long trip to take on North Molton CC 1st XI back under the leadership of the rather tanned Mike Etherington.
North Molton won the toss and elected to bat.
With the help from the crippling amount of Extras (48) primarily due to malfunctioning bowler’s radars it soon became a run feast for North Molton. Matthew Boundy (77), Henry Dunn (64 not out) and James Tapp (50) doing most the damage. Richard Saunter (2 for 38) and Matt Rossin (2 for 39) were the best of the T&K bowlers – one of them would have had much better figures but for the dreaded wides. North Molton amassed the rather large score of 271 for 8 in just 40 overs.
In reply for T&K it was simply the Mike Etherington show (86) with some support from Ady Zimunu (29). However, with no other batters coming to the show, T&K lost by 98 runs but the positive is they batted their overs out. Henry Dunn starred with the ball for North Molton with 4 for 23.
Next up for the 3rd XI next weekend is hosting Exwick CC 2nd XI.
North Molton CC 1st XI 271 for 8 (40 overs)
M Boundy 77
H Dunn 64 not out
J Tapp 50
Extras 48
R Saunter 2-38

Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 3rd XI 173 for 9 (40 overs)
M Etherington 86
A Zimunu 29
H Dunn 4-23
North Molton CC 1st XI (19 pts) beat Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 3rd XI (8 pts) by 98 runs
4TH XI
The 4th XI went on a short boat trip along the coast and up the River Teign to take on Teignmouth and Shaldon CC 3rd XI.
T&S won the toss and elected to bat.
Kevin Jones formerly of C&K was the best of the batters with 55 before being trapped LBW by Matt “oh my knee” McCann (2 for 24). However, he was outscored by Extras with 60 including 36 wides – no need to say anymore. Gary Abraham also contributed 43. The best of the T&K bowlers was Ollie Smith with 3 for 34 as T&K amassed 222 for 7 in 40 overs – hope the umpires were hopping on one leg at the end!
In reply, T&K were extremely thankful to Extras all 54 of them as the best batter was Matt McCann with just 21. The best of the T&S bowlers was Tyler Wilkins with 4 for 11 as T&K were 168 all out in just 36.5 overs.
The 4th XI have a weekend off next weekend to regroup before playing host to Kenn CC 2nd the following weekend.
Teignmouth and Shaldon CC 3rd XI 222 for 7 (40 overs)
Extras 60
K Jones 55
G Abraham 43
O Smith 3-34
Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 4th XI 168 all out (36.5 overs)
Extras 54
M McCann 21
T Wilkins 4-11
Teignmouth and Shaldon CC 3rd XI (20 pts) beat Torquay and Kingskerswell CC 4th XI (7 pts) by 54 runs
Player of the Day
It has to go to Mike Etherington.
Spectator Watch
Up at Hatherleigh, Evo is pleased to report there was no near misses when it comes to the tipping of spectators out of wheelchairs this year. Evo also appreciated Grandma Di took Grandson Lincoln out the way during the minute’s silence.
As for the 2nd XI it would be wrong not to mention Mike Hunt who was in residence to see his favourite player, James Toms, even though he was skippering the opposition!
brockman cup final result
In presence of Mrs Angela Glendenning the grand-daughter of the founder Mr William Brockman who travelled from her home in the Midlands. Torquay and Kingskerswell CC hosted the Brockman Cup Final between Babbacombe CC 1st XI and Ipplepen CC 2nd XI – a repeat of last year’s final. Sadly a late withdrawal meant the T&K representation at the pre-match buffet was one light.
Ipplepen won the toss and decided to take the advantage of batting first in the better light.
Ipplepen got off to a flyer thanks to Toby Holyrod with 74 of just 33 balls and never looked back. Hugo Denman provided the anchor role with an undefeated 44 off 55 balls. This allowed young Warwick Green AKA Destroyer to smash 46 off just 28 balls – mum Dawn catching most the action on camera in her role as Chief Photographer. Ipplepen amassed 189 for 3 – a record for the final. The most economical of the Babbacombe bowlers was Ben Passmore with 0 for 24.
In fading light the best of the Babbacombe batters was Aiden Lighthowlers was with 32 as they fell 28 runs short in the mammoth run chase. The best of the Ipplepen bowlers were Bradley Aldridge with 3 for 14 and Steve Bowden with 3 for 25. Should the match have been finished is debatable but then most evening cup matches run into the same problem.
Tim Western of this parish was Player of the Match Adjudicator and gave the award not unsurprisingly to Toby Holyrod – his son Daniel who was on the losing side “fortunately” did contribute significantly.
